Don Hutchison has backed Brendan Rodgers to become Tottenham Hotspur’s next manager after rumours suggested that it’s not going to be Julian Nagelsmann.

Whether it’s Tottenham pulling out or Julian Nagelsmann rejecting Spurs, the German is now out of the running and the under-fire Daniel Levy has to look elsewhere – that call has been dubbed ‘crazy’.

After getting sacked by Leicester City, Hutchison feels Brendan Rodgers has enough credit in the bank to be Tottenham’s next manager.

After winning the treble in the colours of Celtic to guiding the Foxes to FA Cup glory, as well as his promotion-winning stint at Swansea that landed him the Liverpool job.

Rodgers has been around the block and managed bigger clubs than Spurs themselves, so from that perspective, he won’t be fazed.

Football management is all about timing, and for the Northern Irishman, he is at the lowest point he has been at for a while, despite that, Hutchison has told Spurs to go and secure his services, as he told ESPN

“The name who I think who can do a good job, in the short-term, and I mean over the next two or three years is probably Brendan Rodgers,” said Hutchison.

“I see his style of football fitting in quite well. He talks well and he knows the game inside out. He’s good and reliable.

“Okay, he’s had a bad season at Leicester. But I think there is context there, in terms of Leicester selling their best players over the last few years and a million injuries.

“Plus, the job that he did on a whole wasn’t a bad one. FA Cup and finished fifth twice by pushing for the Champions League. So, I think out of all of those names, it’s Brendan.”

RODGERS’ STYLE OF PLAY

One thing that can’t be argued is Rodgers’ ability to win trophies. Whether it’s up in Scotland or at the King Power Stadium and the style of play that he produces along with it.

If that FA Cup landed on Tottenham’s doorstep, then it would make that manager their most successful since the turn of the century given the weight of that trophy.

And that’s what Spurs fans are craving.
