OH Leuven striker Thomas Henry said he is ready to leave Belgian football behind with Celtic expected to seal a £7 million deal for a potential Odsonne Edouard replacement, as reported by the Daily Record.
Back in May, the late-blooming Frenchman insisted that he would jump at the chance to swap OH Leuven for their British-based sister club Leicester City.
But after the Foxes opted for the rising star that is Patson Daka instead, it looks like Henry will soon be leading the line for Brendan Rodgers’ old employers rather than his current club.
The Scottish Sun reported on Monday night that Celtic are closing in on a deal that will see the 6ft 4ins centre-forward become the joint-second biggest signing in the club’s history.
Only Odsonne Edouard – the man Henry is expected to replace on the green half of Glasgow – cost more.
And after scoring a career-best 21 goals last season, Henry has admitted that the time is right to make a name for himself higher up the footballing pyramid.
Can Thomas Henry replace Edouard at Celtic?
“I hope to discover other countries’ ways of playing football and their lifestyle,” he said.

“I am 26 years old, I have no more time to waste. I have room for improvement and I think I can go higher, do better.
“My goal is to improve and I want to take the next step. I feel capable of it. I want to become even better and my ambition is to play at as high a level as possible.
“The club knows that and we will see the opportunities that are presented to me this summer. I don’t set myself any limits or barriers.”
Leuven coach Marc Brys has admitted that he will not stand in Henry’s way. And one of the hottest forwards in Belgium appeared to say goodbye after Sunday’s 1-1 draw against Charleroi.
Waving to the fans as the tears fell, it looked like a farewell.
