Michael Owen thinks Brighton midfielder and Liverpool summer transfer target, Moises Caicedo, is going to be the ‘next big-money buy’, as he told Premier League Productions (04/09/22 at 2:55 pm).
The former striker praised Caicedo’s ‘assured’ performance as Brighton thrashed Leicester City 5-2 in the Premier League over the weekend.
The 20-year-old scored Brighton’s second goal of the game as Graham Potter’s side, despite losing key men in the summer, are sitting fourth in the Premier League table after six matches.

Yves Bissouma, Neal Maupay and Marc Cucurella left the Amex Stadium for big bucks during the recently-concluded window and there were also rumours of Caicedo possibly following suit.
Liverpool needed another midfielder late on in the window and there was talk of Caicedo being on their list, instead, it was Brazil international Arthur Melo who agreed a loan move to Merseyside from Juventus.
Nonetheless, following Caicedo’s most recent performance, the Ecuadorian star caught the eye of former England international Owen and how big things could be in the pipeline for him.
“I like this lad,” said Owen. “I think there are a lot of teams looking at him. There were rumours that he could be one of the next big-money buys or sales from Brighton’s perspective.
“That’s the reason why (goal against Leicester). It was a really assured finish and performance.”

WILL LIVERPOOL GO BACK IN FOR CAICEDO?
Liverpool need a refresh in midfield and this Arthur capture seems to be more of a short-term fix than a long-term solution for Klopp.
If Arthur plays out of his skin, then the Reds will no doubt want to add him to their squad for the long-term, but even then, it seems as though another big-name face is needed.
Jordan Henderson isn’t getting any younger, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita have been left out of Liverpool’s Champions League squads, so there could be a big overhaul in 12 months.
England star Jude Bellingham is the one Liverpool fans all want, but added with the 19-year-old, someone like Caicedo could also be a smart purchase, especially if he does wonders in Brighton colours this term.
