Newcastle United defender Sven Botman has given his seal of approval to Arsenal securing the transfer of Ajax star Jurrien Timber.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano posted on Instagram his trademark ‘He We Go’ to Jurrien Timber’s £34 million deal from Ajax to Arsenal and the post was liked by his fellow countryman, Sven Botman.

Whilst Timber and Botman are teammates on the international stage, they are now going to be rivals on the domestic scene.

Both Arsenal and Newcastle finished in the Champions League places last season and the duo will be expected to battle it out again ahead of the new campaign.

There is probably more pressure on Mikel Arteta because they will be expected to challenge for the Premier League title, whilst the Magpies finishing in the top four again would be seen as a thumbs up.

Either way, a big week or so awaits Timber, who is set to swap his comfort zone in the Netherlands to play in the big pressure lights at Arsenal and the Premier League stage.

Timber’s versatile qualities

That has to be one of the big reasons why Arteta has decided to push to sign the 22-year-old, who operated at centre-back last season but can also play at right-back.

Added to that, Arsenal are a possession-based team, and as European Transfer expert Kevin Hatchard shared on Sky Sports, that’s one of Timber’s biggest strengths, playing out from the back and how he is an ‘ever so good player’.

Either way, a number of new faces are expected to arrive at Arsenal soon, including the most expected one of Declan Rice.
