HITC understands that Newcastle United have made a third offer for Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi this summer.

We had previously reported that Newcastle United had seen their second offer for Marc Guehi rejected by Crystal Palace with the Eagles holding out for more money.

Sven Botman’s injury problems have meant that Newcastle are seemingly looking for another defender and Guehi seems to be their preferred choice of defender.

HITC had previously reported that Newcastle were keen on Max Kilman but West Ham United won the race to sign the English defender for £40 million from Wolverhampton Wanderers. Newcastle, meanwhile, want Guehi.

Newcastle lodge third Guehi offer

Sources have told HITC that Newcastle have lodged a third offer for Palace’s Guehi as talks between the two clubs continue over a deal for the Englishman.

Newcastle sporting director Paul Mitchell is working hard to thrash out a deal with Palace chief Steve Parish and sporting chief Dougie Freedman – but as of yet no deal has been agreed.

Newcastle’s second offer was believed to be worth £50 million but the Eagles are understood to want £65 million for the Englishman which is why the Magpies have seen two offers for the former Chelsea ace turned down.

There is little doubt that due to the injury crisis that Newcastle had, signing Guehi would be key for Newcastle this summer and it appears that the Magpies are not giving up in their hopes of signing the Englishman.

Newcastle’s feelings on Guehi deal as third offer made

HITC understands that Mitchel feels that Guehi’s value has a limit due to the fact he has just two-years left on his current deal, which is why they are reluctant for their offer to reach £65million.

Guehi is keen to make the move to St James’ Park which is one of the major reasons Newcastle are continuing to pursue the deal.

The English defender earned a call-up to Gareth Southgate’s England squad and was one of the most important players for the Three Lions with Manchester United’s Harry Maguire missing out due to injury.

Guehi was hailed by West Ham winger Jarrod Bowen for his performances at the summer tournament and the English defender would be a very smart signing for the club.
