Kevin Hatchard says Newcastle United transfer target Moussa Diaby is a ‘fun player to watch’, even though he hasn’t had the best of seasons at Bayer Leverkusen this term.
The European and Bundesliga football expert shared that Eddie Howe’s Champions League-chasing Newcastle United are ‘very much interested’ in the 23-year-old for the summer transfer market.
Less than 12 months ago, there was talk of Diaby possibly heading to St James’ Park, but a move didn’t materialise, and now those rumours have resurfaced once more.

When the Magpies have a player like Allan Saint-Maximin on the bench, then it just goes to show how well things are going for the team.
When the Saudi-led takeover replaced Mike Ashley in the boardroom, many felt that Saint-Maximin would be the only one who would survive a possible clearout.
But it has been far from that, with Eddie Howe now keen on boosting his thriving forward line and Hatchard sharing his thoughts on Diaby, as he told The Transfer Show on Sky Sports.
“So, German media talking about, not for this window, but saying that Newcastle are very much interested,” said Hatchard. “They were heavily linked with him in the summer.
“He hasn’t had the best of seasons, but nor have Leverkusen, they have been hopeless for most of the campaign. He has definitely dipped, but there is great potential there.
“When he is at the top level. He is explosive. Really quick and a fun player to watch.”

DIABY’S NUMBERS
Newcastle United fans will be glad to know that Diaby is a goalscorer from the flanks, mainly operating on the right, where Miguel Almiron is cooking for the club this season.
During the previous campaign, the eight-cap France international scored 13 goals and supplied 12 assists from his 32 league games, including four strikes in the Europa League.
And this term, he has six goals and three assists to his name, as well as two goals in the Champions League. Leverkusen are sitting 12th in the table and they finished third in their Champions League group.
