Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes has reacted on Instagram to Fabinho securing a transfer from Liverpool to Saudi Arabia.
After winning the lot in English football, including the European Cup, Fabinho has called it a day in the Premier League and decided to open a new chapter in the ever-growing Saudi Arabia Pro League.
The 29-year-old has signed a three-year deal with Al-Ittihad (BBC Sport) and he is now set to be team-mates with Karim Benzema – the Real Madrid legend has reacted to his move.
When Liverpool and Al-Ittihad announced Fabinho’s move, the player himself took to Instagram to express his feelings to the Anfield faithful.
With Jordan Henderson also moving to Saudi, all of this would have been unexpected for the club and an emotional week.
In the comments section of the Brazil star’s IG post, his fellow countryman, Bruno Guimaraes, simply wrote ‘Good luck, skinny’, whilst Alisson Becker called him a ‘legend’ and Andy Robertson added ‘what a player’.
Fabinho departs a Liverpool legend
An underrated figure during Liverpool’s rise back to the top, he joined the club under the shadow of Virgil van Dijk and Alisson Becker arrivals.
But he leaves with his stock as high as theirs and, without a doubt, a Liverpool legend.
Whilst that Champions League win will live long in the memory, he and his teammates will be long remembered for ending Liverpool’s 30-year wait to become champions of England again.
