Newcastle United are showing a strong interest in Lille playmaker Yusuf Yazici – but face a battle with Galatasaray for his signature.
Turkish newspaper Sabah claim that Galatasaray are desperate to bolster their squad after a disappointing season so far.
The likes of Christian Luyindama and former Newcastle defender DeAndre Yedlin will be made available for transfer.
Galatasaray would then like to put the money into signing Yazici, who left Trabzonspor for Lille in 2019.
The problem for Galatasaray is that they face a battle with Newcastle, who are allegedly ‘preparing an offer’ to sign Yazici.
Newcastle have been linked with other Lille players like Sven Botman and Jonathan David, but it’s Yazici this time.
Yazici, 24, played a key role in Lille’s title win last season. With seven goals and four assists in Ligue 1 as well as another seven goals in the Europa League, Yazici was outstanding.
This season though, Yazici has only started five Ligue 1 games. With Lille struggling for cash, Yazici could now be available.

Compared to Mesut Ozil by the man himself, Yazici could now be a bargain for Newcastle.
Yazici’s name may be familiar to some Newcastle fans, as Rafael Benitez actually wanted him at St James’ Park in 2017.
It now seems that Newcastle, seeking improvements across the pitch, may finally move to sign Yazici after all.
