Newcastle United want Yannick Carrasco and are ready to make a huge move to sign the Atletico Madrid winger this summer.

Newcastle will be looking to kick on having comfortably secured their Premier League status.

It looked scary at times but Eddie Howe has worked wonders and could even secure a top-half finish for Newcastle.

Newcastle will hope to bring in key signings thanks to PIF’s investment and big additions will naturally be linked with the club.

It now seems that one of the first names linked is Atletico Madrid star Carrasco.

Newcastle United want Yannick Carrasco

Goal report that Newcastle will launch their pursuit of Carrasco ‘as soon as the season ends’.

It’s stated that Newcastle may end up paying around €60million (£51million) to bring Carrasco to St James’ Park.

Carrasco, 28, was superb for Atletico this season having racked up six goals and six assists in 33 games.

The winger is now a wanted man though and Newcastle are hoping to lure him to England.

One interesting factor here is Newcastle assistant coach Graeme Jones already knows Carrasco well.

Jones worked in the Belgium setup with Roberto Martinez and therefore coached Carrasco on the International stage.

Carrasco also knows Newcastle right back Kieran Trippier very well having played together with Diego Simeone’s Atletico side.

Those existing relationships may just give Newcastle hope of a deal, though they can expect some major competition.

Tottenham explored a potential deal to sign Carrasco in January according to The Athletic but couldn’t get a move done.

Tottenham will surely have Champions League football on offer and can’t be counted out of the race.

Antonio Conte will want proven, quality players and Carrasco absolutely fits that bill, even if he may be seen as a wing back at Tottenham.

Hailed as an ‘incredible’ dribbler by Simeone, Carrasco can play on either flank and would be a huge addition for Newcastle if they can pull it off.
