Newcastle United are interested in Evan Ndicka, so much so that they scouted the Eintracht Frankfurt star in action against West Ham United.

The Magpies will be targeting big signings this summer having comfortably stayed in the Premier League.

Newcastle’s January business has proven to be very effective and more quality signings will be needed to move forward again.

Newcastle did sign a centre back in January as Dan Burn arrived but Eddie Howe may chase another central defender.

A host of names have been linked with that role, such as Jules Kounde, but Eintracht Frankfurt star Ndicka may emerge as a top target.

Sport Bild in Germany report that Newcastle are showing a real interest in signing Ndicka this summer.

Monaco and Marseille are also keen but Newcastle seem to be the most interest club.

Newcastle have been looking towards Ndicka of late and even scouted him against West Ham United earlier this month.

Frankfurt hosted West Ham in the second leg of their Europa League semi-final, clinching a 1-0 win.

Ndicka played a key role in keeping that clean sheet and Newcastle may have been left very impressed.

The French defender also started for Frankfurt against Rangers on Wednesday night, helping the Bundesliga side win the Europa League.

That may be a great end for Ndicka, potentially leaving on a high this summer having defied the odds to win the Europa League.

Newcastle seem to be considering launching a move for Ndicka this summer, which could give Eddie Howe an intriguing centre back partnership.

Ndicka is left-footed just like January signing Burn, meaning they would form a left-footed partnership at Newcastle.

It’s not often you see two left-footed centre backs together, but you never really think about it when it’s two right-footers.

Left-footed defenders like Nathan Ake and Lloyd Kelly have taken Howe’s fancy in years gone by and Ndicka is now a name to keep an eye on this summer.
