Newcastle United are willing to sell Dwight Gayle for around £18 million, according to The Guardian (16:51).

But it is claimed that Rafa Benitez will not sell the striker, in whom Leeds United are said to be extremely interested, until he has a ‘guaranteed replacement’.

And that man could be Liverpool’s Divock Origi, whom The Telegraph reports Newcastle United are in the race to sign.

But the Magpies are not alone it seems, with Tottenham Hotspur and Monaco, whose winger, Thomas Lemar, Liverpool are said to be trying to sign, also credited with interest.

Going back to Gayle, Leeds have signed an alternative in Hamburg’s Pierre-Michel Lasogga, while The Yorkshire Evening Post reports the Newcastle player, along with Danny Ings and Nahki Wells, is not in fact being considered by the Whites.

Two Magpies players could be bound for the Championship, though, with The Guardian also reporting that Grant Hanley looks to be heading to Norwich City, and adding that Jack Colback could join Hull City on loan, with the Tigers paying half of his wages.

And finally, Newcastle have asked to take Udinese goalkeeper Orestis Karnezis on loan, according to The Daily Mail.

Karnezis has not appeared in either of the Serie A side’s opening two fixtures, which could increase the likelihood of him departing the Stadio Friuli.
