A round-up of Monday’s top transfer news involving Newcastle United.

Newcastle United have told new signing Jacob Murphy they will continue to monitor twin brother Josh throughout the coming campaign, with a view to signing him next summer according to The Mirror.

Josh, who has remained at Norwich City after Jacob’s move to Tyneside last week, was on the Magpies’ radar himself at the start of last season.

Middlesbrough were recently linked with a move for the former, but the possibility of a move to boyhood club Newcastle could convince him to sit things out in Norfolk.

Sticking with wingers, The Chronicle reports that Newcastle have added Manchester City’s Patrick Roberts to their list of potential recruits, should Pep Guardiola decide to loan him out.

Roberts impressed during an 18-month spell at Celtic and is said to have admirers north and south of the border as well as throughout Europe.

Signing the 20-year-old on loan for the season could work out well if the Magpies are to pursue a deal for Josh Murphy in 2018.

One wide man who won’t be coming to St James’ however is Ismaila Sarr, who is leaving Metz for Rennes in a deal worth £17.9 million according to La Republicain Lorrain.

Newcastle are said to have offered £10.4 million for Sarr earlier in the summer, but the Senegal international wanted to remain in France.

Elsewhere, The Sun reports that Newcastle won’t be deterred by Napoli’s £10 million asking price for central midfield man Allan.

Southampton and West Bromwich Albion are also credited with interest in the Brazilian, but it is claimed that Benitez plans to move early in order to see off the Premier League pair.

Allan narrowly evaded Benitez when he arrived in Naples from Udinese two years ago.

And finally, Lyon have made Newcastle striker Aleksandar Mitrovic a priority target, according to La Republicain Lorrain.

It is claimed the Magpies will request £15 million for the Serbia international.
