A round-up of Monday’s transfer news involving Newcastle United.

Newcastle United have held talks with West Ham United target Badou N’Diaye, according to Sky Sports.

The Mirror last night reported that the Hammers were close to agreeing an £8.5 million deal for the Osmanlispor midfielder, whose employers claim they have agreed to sell him to an English side.

But it appears the deed is not yet done, offering a ray of hope to the Magpies on an otherwise frustrating day where transfers are concerned.

AS claimed that Newcastle had been in negotiations with Jesus Navas upon his release from Manchester City.

Toon boss Rafa Benitez has little to show for his winger search so far, and was said to be willing to match Navas’ wage demands in a bid to prise him away from former club Sevilla.

But according to The Mail, there is no chance the 31-year-old will be moving to Tyneside – which is only the tip of the iceberg it seems.

Despite The Mirror last night reporting that Newcastle were leading the race to sign Norwich City winger Jacob Murphy, those Mail spoilsports have since claimed the player is not for sale, adding that Middlesbrough’s valuation of another Toon target, Adama Traore, has been deemed unrealistic.

And according to The Telegraph, the Magpies have been beaten to the loan signing of Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek by Crystal Palace.

But the future is looking bright at least, with former Newcastle midfielder Lee Clark telling the Shields Gazette he’s been impressed by Tom Heardman’s start at Bury – likening him to a young Andy Carroll.

“We believe he can add something extra to our group. He has already hit the ground running this week,” Clark said. “We also feel that we can help him develop and he can also be an asset for us over the coming season so we are delighted to get him on board with us.”
