Jose Enrique wants Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool to sign Frenkie de Jong from Barcelona, whilst he would also like Newcastle United to bring in Sadio Mane from Bayern Munich.

The former Liverpool and Newcastle United left-back was reacting to a question from Sky Sports’ Instagram page, ‘Name the ONE signing your club should make this summer?’ and he put forward the names of Frenkie de Jong and Sadio Mane via his Instagram story.

‘Frenkie de Jong for LFC and Mane for Newcastle,” wrote Enrique.

There is every chance that Mane, who only left Liverpool last summer, heads for the exit door at Munich because it has gone horribly wrong for the 31-year-old.

On the other hand, de Jong has long been linked with a move to the Premier League, with Manchester United and Liverpool being the main parties interested.

Will he ever make that switch to England’s top-flight? He is still 26-years-old, so he has a lot of time on his hands.

If an English club manages to nab him, then they will be securing the talents of one of the best midfield operators in the business, both from a defensive and an attacking sense.

Will Liverpool and Newcastle secure Champions League football next season?

After Jurgen Klopp’s stumbled for large parts of the season, Newcastle made sure to capitalise and secure a well-earned top-four finish.

But now they are going to become the hunted, that’s why it’s crucial that they bring in the top names this summer, it has already been suggested that Inter star Nicolo Barella is on their radar.

Signings like that will keep teams like Liverpool on alert that Newcastle aren’t going anywhere and they are here to remain in the Champions League for the long run.
