Jose Enrique thinks Sadio Mane is better off signing for Newcastle United rather than making a return to Liverpool amid his possible exit from Bayern Munich.
The 31-year-old hasn’t had the best of times at Bayern Munich, and less than 12 months after joining from Liverpool, he could already be out of the exit door.
Whilst former Reds left-back Enrique ‘loved’ him during his time at Anfield, he thinks Sadio Mane would be a ‘top signing’ for Newcastle United, instead, as he posted on Twitter.

Well, one thing is for sure, the Magpies can offer Champions League football to the African Cup of Nations winner, so from that perspective, he would still be playing at the highest level.
Plus, unlike in Munich, he would become an instant starter and one of Eddie Howe’s main players if he moves to St James’ Park.
It wouldn’t be a surprise if Mane is back on the Premier League stage next season, as Enrique explained why a transfer to Newcastle is better than Liverpool.
“I don’t think Liverpool need Mane now,” said Enrique. “I think Mane was in his prime at Liverpool. He did the maximum that he could do and he won every single trophy with us.
“I love him. I think he is one of our best players. And one of the best players in the world, at the time. I think he is just a little bit unlucky with the decision at Bayern Munich. I am sure he will come back to his best.
“But I don’t think he is the kind of player Liverpool need right now, but if we are talking about Newcastle, then I think he can be very versatile for them. He can play as a striker. He can play on the left.
“Definitely, he would be a top signing for Newcastle.”

Mane would do wonders at Newcastle
For one reason or another, it has gone horribly wrong for the all-action forward at Bayern and it’s the right time for him to leave.
It’s not helped by the fact that he punched Leroy Sane, but returning England should be on the cards and saying yes to a Newcastle side on the up would be the right move.
There is doubt about Allan Saint-Maximin’s future, Anthony Gordon is still trying to get himself warmed up, whilst Mane starts ahead of anybody else that plays on the left, so this is a deal the Magpies should push for.
