Newcastle United were taken over by the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund last week – and they may already be eyeing the purchase of Inter Milan.
Italian newspaper Libero claim that PIF want to add another football club to their portfolio and are targeting Inter Milan for a move.
Owners Suning are will to sell Inter, and PIF are emerging as the main contenders to take over at the San Siro.
The report even mentions that an agreement is already in place for PIF to engineer a €1bn (£850million) takeover.
That’s more than twice the price PIF just paid for Newcastle.
PIF allegedly want a network of clubs, just like Manchester City. Newcastle, Inter Milan, Marseille and a team in Brazil is the current plan.
Newcastle are being linked with Inter players after PIF takeover
Newcastle are already looking to sign a couple of Inter players.
Stefan de Vrij and Marcelo Brozovic have both been linked with big-money moves to St James’ Park in 2022.

PIF taking over Inter could make that go one of two ways.
One is that it helps send players to Newcastle, kind of like the Pozzo family moving players between Watford and Udinese.
The other is that PIF want all of their clubs to be equally strong, so business between their clubs doesn’t really take place.
This is an interesting plan from PIF, with few expecting them to move for another club mere days after securing Newcastle.
