Newcastle United want Mykhaylo Mudryk and could land a significant blow on Arsenal if they can pull off a January deal for the winger.
The Magpies will have spending power in January and will be looking to add to two positive windows in 2022.
Exciting additions will be the focus for Newcastle and another winger would be ideal.
Allan Saint-Maximin is a huge talent but picks up a number of niggling injuries, whilst Newcastle don’t really have somebody of similar quality on the other flank.
Moussa Diaby was a name mentioned strongly in the summer but Newcastle now appear to be looking towards Ukraine.
Newcastle United want Mykhaylo Mudryk
iNews report that Newcastle are now considering launching a huge £50million move to sign Shakhtar Donetsk wide man Mykhaylo Mudryk.
Mudryk, 21, has been one of the revelations of the Champions League this season.
The winger has already racked up two goals and two assists in just two Champions League outings against RB Leipzig and Celtic.
Mudryk has been hailed as an ‘incredible dribbler’ and this is exactly the kind of talent Newcastle should be trying to sign.
The deal itself would be exciting enough, but it gets even better as Newcastle could land a major blow to Arsenal.
The Gunners looked into a late deal for Mudryk in August and are still keen on him moving forward after receiving glowing reports.
It’s already starting to feel like Arsenal may have missed their window of opportunity with Mudryk.
Arsenal surely won’t be paying £50million to sign a winger as competition for Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli, even if Mudryk is a huge talent.
Newcastle can now move in and sell Mudryk the dream; playing regularly in the Premier League and becoming one of the star faces of this Magpies project.
Newcastle are gunning for the so-called ‘big six’ now and they will be looking to land key signings to take them there.
Bruno Guimaraes was one such signing, and Arsenal were targeting him. Alexander Isak is another, and guess what? Arsenal wanted him too.
Signing Mudryk would make it three transfer coups over Arsenal in the space of a year, underlining how Newcastle are a force to be reckoned with in the transfer market.
£50million makes a statement in itself, but swooping in ahead of Arsenal could be another big signal of intent.
