Newcastle United want Alexander Isak and he will sign a £120,000-a-week deal with the club despite interest from Arsenal and Everton.

The Magpies have been chasing a striker signing all summer and have been closing in on Watford attacker Joao Pedro.

It’s unclear just where that deal is at right now because Newcastle have now made their move to sign Real Soceidad striker Alexander Isak.

Newcastle United want Alexander Isak

Isak was a key name on Newcastle’s wish list earlier in the transfer window.

The Telegraph claimed that Newcastle did explore a move for Isak but he wanted at least £200,000-a-week, so the Magpies backed away.

That situation seems to have changed though, with Diario Vasco in Gipuzkoa reporting that Isak is now heading to Newcastle in a deal worth £59million rising to £63million.

The Guardian now add that Isak is set to sign a deal worth £120,000-a-week – an £80,000-a-week drop from his demands earlier in the summer.

It’s added that Arsenal, Everton and Juventus all admire Isak but the Swede is interested in signing for Newcastle.

Isak has already agreed terms with Newcastle and the deal is on the verge of being completed.

Arsenal are likely out of the race anyway having signed Gabriel Jesus and kept hold of Eddie Nketiah.

Everton do need a striker but surely can’t go and spend £59million like Newcastle can right now, so there shouldn’t be a hijack attempt here.

Isak, 22, is a huge talent who could become a complete striker in the coming years.

Tall, powerful, quick and incredibly skilful when taking on defenders, Isak has enormous potential and could lead Newcastle’s attack for many, many years.

Isak did only score six league goals in 32 games last season though, and will need to find his clinical edge moving forward if he is to justify that price tag.

We’re sure he will; Isak is just too talented not to be a regular goalscorer, and this marks an exciting capture for the Magpies.
