Newcastle United want Joao Pedro and Watford may have already located a replacement by targeting Fluminense attacker Matheus Martins.

The Magpies are in the market for an attacking option and there seems to have been a running them with their targets.

Benjamin Sesko, Hugo Ekitike, Sekou Mara and Armando Broja all fit a similar mould’ exciting young talents who have major potential.

Newcastle have two experienced strikers in Callum Wilson and Chris Wood, so the focus should be on finding a youngster to complement them.

There have been links to Benfica star Goncalo Ramos too, but Newcastle may look closer to home for their new striker

Newcastle United want Joao Pedro

Newcastle have turned their attention to Watford forward Joao Pedro, but convincing the Hornets to sell isn’t easy.

Reports from Sky Sports on Monday suggested that Newcastle had offered £17.5million for Joao Pedro but Watford said no.

If Newcastle go towards £30million, maybe Watford will be more open to selling their prized Brazilian.

One thing that will boost Newcastle’s hopes is that Watford are now eyeing up another Brazilian attacker.

The Athletic report that Watford have opened talks to sign Fluminense forward Matheus Martins.

This would continue the transfer line from Fluminense after Richarlison and then, ironically, Joao Pedro.

It may well be that Watford now look towards Matheus Martins as the man to replace Joao Pedro this summer.

Matheus Martins, 19, is an exciting talent over in Brazil and can play all across the front line – just like Joao Pedro.

You can certainly understand why Newcastle may feel a small boost in their pursuit of Joao Pedro, with Watford possibly finding a replacement.

That’s what Eddie Howe and co will be hoping for anyway, with Joao Pedro perfectly suiting what Newcastle are seeking; they just need Watford to be open to a deal.
