Some Newcastle United fans reacting on social media have shared their delight after the Toon posted images of Martin Dubravka returning to training following his foot injury.
Steve Bruce has yet been able to call on the goalkeeper during the Magpies’ troubled start to the season. Dubravka underwent surgery on his foot this summer, but suffered a setback in his recovery when the scar become infected.
Freddie Woodman started the term as Newcastle’s first-choice between the sticks while Karl Darlow was also absent after contracting coronavirus. The 30-year-old made his return during last Friday’s 1-1 draw with Leeds United, after Woodman lost four of five outings.

Bruce could now look to reintroduce Dubravka to the Newcastle first-team fold following his return to training after his injury. The Toon will strive to claim their first win of the term across all competitions when they visit Watford in the Premier League this Saturday.
Bruce claimed last week Dubravka was close to a return to training. Noting, via NUFC.co.uk: “He’s coming along nicely. The wound, which was badly infected, has gone. He’s hoping to be back out on the grass next week, which is good news for everyone.”
Dubravka guarded the Magpies net 13 times in the top-flight last season and kept three clean sheets. Newcastle suffered three defeats over the 32-year-old’s appearances, while beating Leicester City and drawing with Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool.
United’s run of form with Dubravka between the sticks ultimately saved the North East side from relegation to the Championship. But currently sit 18th in the standings as one of five teams yet to win. Only Norwich City (14) have also conceded more than Newcastle (13).
