Newcastle fans have taken to Twitter to react after Steve Bruce confirmed that Martin Dubravka had suffered a serious setback.

What’s the story?

Well, the 32-year-old has been absent for the Magpies ever since undergoing surgery on his foot over the summer.

However, the Slovakian’s wound has become infected, which sadly means he will spend another eight weeks on the sidelines – at least.

With Karl Darlow also unavailable, 24-year-old Freddie Woodman has started Newcastle’s first two Premier League games of the campaign.

Unfortunately, the man who spent last season on loan at Swansea has conceded six goals, as Newcastle find themselves pointless after two games.

In fairness to Woodman, that isn’t entirely his fault – the defending at times has been shambolic.

When will Newcastle have Dubravka back?

After eight weeks have passed, Newcastle’s No.1 will also need time to get back up to speed, so don’t expect to see him immediately.

If Bruce decides to throw him straight back in, Dubravka could be in between the sticks by December.

However, don’t expect much from him – the fixture list for December looks incredibly tough.

Over the course of the month, the Magpies face Leicester, Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United.

There’s also a tricky tie against Rafa Benitez’s Everton to overcome at the end of December – it’s certainly not a nice welcome back for the £38,000-a-week glovesman!

Let’s see what the Newcastle fans on Twitter have been saying about Dubravka’s heartbreaking setback…
