Newcastle United winger Allan Saint-Maximin is now being linked with a move to Everton – and Magpies fans aren’t exactly impressed.
The Magpies signed Saint-Maximin in the summer of 2019, landing him from Nice in something of a gamble given that he had failed to live up to his potential in France.
Saint-Maximin has become a fan favourite at Newcastle though, dazzling fans with his pace and trickery down the flanks.
Injuries and inconsistent end product are a factor with Saint-Maximin, but he may have done enough to change Rafael Benitez’s mind.
The Mirror note that Benitez didn’t fancy signing Saint-Maximin for Newcastle in 2019, but now wants to bring him to Everton this summer.
Benitez is eyeing up new attackers for Everton in case Richarlison leaves for Real Madrid, and Saint-Maximin is thought to be one name on the radar.
Newcastle fans have been taking to Twitter to react, suggesting that there is no way Saint-Maximin would leave for Everton, feeling that he can do so much better.
Others claim they will be ‘done’ with Newcastle if they sell Saint-Maximin to Everton, and doubt that Benitez really wants him anyway.
