Newcastle United fans are baffled by the news that Sammy Ameobi is set to return to St. James’ Park.
Ameobi has impressed on loan with Bolton Wanderers in League One this season, and Rafael Benitez has been convinced that the powerful wide-man could have a part to play on Tyneside.
With Newcastle’s results taking a turn of the worse in recent weeks, Ameobi has been recalled from loan to give Benitez more options in forward situations.
However, Magpies fans seem utterly bemused by the decision – with many feeling that Ameobi simply isn’t good enough.
Ameobi has shown his ability in flashes at Newcastle before, but he has always lacked consistency.
The 24-year-old has made over 50 league appearances for Newcastle over his career to date, but only scored twice.
During his time with Bolton, Ameobi made 24 appearances – scoring four times and claiming one assist.
