Newcastle United like Christian Pulisic and would consider a deal if Chelsea showed any indication that he will be available this summer.
The Magpies are desperate for attacking additions having suffered a frustrating summer on that front.
From Hugo Ekitike picking a move to Paris Saint-Germain to Bayer Leverkusen’s Moussa Diaby being out of reach, Newcastle just haven’t quite had their own way whilst targeting attacking players.
Eddie Howe and Dan Ashworth will have many names on their wish list between now and the end of the window, and they may look to sign some fringe Premier League players.
Newcastle United like Christian Pulisic
The Athletic report that Newcastle have asked Chelsea – as well as other top-six clubs – to keep them informed on any attacking players who become available this month.
One name mentioned is Christian Pulisic, as it’s reported that Newcastle would consider signing him if he becomes available.
It’s unclear whether Chelsea would actually let Pulisic leave though, meaning he is just a name that Newcastle are keeping tabs on.
Pulisic, 23, joined Chelsea back in the summer of 2019 having shown huge promise with Borussia Dortmund.
There have been glimpses of Pulisic’s quality but they have been too inconsistent to date.
25 goals and 18 assists in 115 appearances isn’t a dismal record by any stretch of the imagination, but Pulisic started just 13 league games last season.
The American started this season’s opener against Everton on the bench too, playing just 25 minutes as a substitute.
Jurgen Klopp has hailed Pulisic as a ‘big talent’ and ‘super-exciting’, but Chelsea just haven’t seen that over a sustained period of time.
Chelsea forked out a huge £58million to sign Pulisic and would surely want a large chunk of that outlay back if they were to offload him.
A loan could work though and with Pulisic seeking to be in top form ahead of the World Cup later this year, heading to Newcastle for first-team action may not be the worst idea.
