Targett has made that left back position his own at Newcastle but the Magpies continue to be linked with Brazilian left back Renan Lodi.
Lodi is a former teammate of Guimaraes from their time back in Brazil but the Newcastle midfielder has made his feelings clear.
Targett was speaking to NUFC TV after beating Arsenal 2-0 when Guimaraes hijacked the interview.
Guimaraes looked into the camera and simply stated ‘he needs to stay’, urging Newcastle to get him signed up permanently.
That decision is now over to Eddie Howe, but Targett has done all he could possibly do for Newcastle.
