Newcastle’s Bruno Guimaraes wants Matt Targett signed permanently having hijacked an interview with the left back after beating Arsenal 2-0.
Newcastle played their final home game of the season on Monday night, with something of a carnival atmosphere at St James’ Park.
A Ben White own goal and a Bruno Guimaraes strike handed Newcastle a 2-0 win, virtually ending Arsenal’s Champions League hopes in the process.
After a dismal start to the season, Newcastle have renewed energy and hope under Eddie Howe and PIF.
Now within touching distance of a top-half finish, Newcastle fans finally have something to be excited about and it showed with a superb atmosphere on Monday.
Newcastle’s Bruno Guimaraes wants Matt Targett signed permanently
We can now expect to see Newcastle doing plenty of business in the summer transfer window.
The Magpies have new spending power thanks to PIF and one deal is already agreed.
Newcastle signed left back Matt Targett on loan from Aston Villa in January and The Chronicle claim a £15million permanent deal has been agreed.
Newcastle still need to activate that option though and if they don’t, there are plenty of clubs who want Targett.
90Min claim that Leeds United want to sign Targett whilst Leicester City and Wolverhampton Wanderers are also keen.

Targett has made that left back position his own at Newcastle but the Magpies continue to be linked with Brazilian left back Renan Lodi.
Lodi is a former teammate of Guimaraes from their time back in Brazil but the Newcastle midfielder has made his feelings clear.
Targett was speaking to NUFC TV after beating Arsenal 2-0 when Guimaraes hijacked the interview.
Guimaraes looked into the camera and simply stated ‘he needs to stay’, urging Newcastle to get him signed up permanently.
That decision is now over to Eddie Howe, but Targett has done all he could possibly do for Newcastle.
