Lyon midfielder Bruno Guimaraes haș told his agents to make sure a deal to join Newcastle United is done before the transfer window shuts.
That’s according to The Chronicle, who claim that Guimaraes is seemingly desperate to complete his move to Newcastlte.
It’s added that Guimaraes has a medical with Newcastle scheduled for Friday, which will take place in South America.
Guimaraes is currently away with Brazil as they take on Ecuador, but the midfielder is still trying to push for a deal to be done.
Lyon have been reluctant to sell, so Guimaraes is trying to take matters into his own hands by urging his agents to get it sorted.
The deal looks to be moving closer and closer, with L’Equipe claiming that Newcastle have now made an offer totalling €52million.
That’s €42million up front (£35million) and another €10million (£8million) in add-ons, which is closer to Lyon’s valuation.
Sky Sports reported earlier this week that Arsenal are keen on signing Guimaraes, who has been on Edu’s radar for at least two years now.
Newcastle now look like being the destination for Guimaraes, with Arsenal’s midfielder pursuit taking another hit.

With Arthur seemingly not joining from Juventus, Guimaraes could have been an alternative for the Gunners.
Guimaraes appears to have decided that he wants to join Newcastle, marking a huge purchase in the early days of this new project.
With Julien Laurens suggesting that the Brazilian is a ‘fantastic player’ and a ‘great coup’ for Newcastle, fans are surely excited.
Guimaraes is a fine passer who can protect the defence and get attacks started, with his ability both on and off the ball exactly what Newcastle need.
There isn’t much time for Newcastle to get everything signed off, but this deal seems to be moving in the right direction.
