Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United are interested in signing Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah in the summer transfer window, according to The Mirror.

The Mirror have reported that Newcastle are competing with West Ham United, Brighton and Hove Albion and Crystal Palace for the signature of the former Leeds United loanee.

The 22-year-old striker is out of contract at Arsenal at the end of the season.

The Mirror have added that Arsenal do not want to let the striker leave, and that they have held more talks with the £45,000-a-week player’s representatives over a new deal.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is reportedly desperate to keep the 22-year-old at the Emirates Stadium for next season and beyond.

Could Newcastle United sign Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah?

In our opinion, it is going to be tough for Newcastle to sign Arsenal striker Nketiah in the summer transfer window.

Yes, the Magpies can offer the striker a lot of money as salary, but it seems that the Gunners are desperate to keep him and he could be tempted to sign a new deal.

After all, Nketiah has been at Arsenal since 2015.

Arsenal could finish in the Premier League top four this season, and the chance to play in the Champions League could be tempting for Nketiah as well.
