Jamie Carragher has said on Sky Sports Premier League (4:08pm, May 8, 2022) that Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah should leave the Gunners this summer despite scoring two goals against Leeds United.

Nketiah scored both goals for Arsenal in their 2-1 win against Leeds at the Emirates Stadium in the Premier League on Sunday.

The 22-year-old striker has scored four goals and given one assist in five Premier League starts for the Gunners this season.

Nketiah also scored five goals in four Carabao Cup starts for Mikel Arteta’s side this campaign.

The former Leeds loanee is out of contract at Arsenal at the end of the season, and ex-Liverpool defender and Sky Sports pundit Carragher believes that the £45,000-a-week (Spotrac) should leave the Gunners in the summer of 2022.

Jamie Carragher on Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah

Carragher said about Nketiah on Sky Sports Premier League (4:08pm, May 8, 2022), as transcribed by The Express: “I don’t think he’ll ever end up being the first-choice striker. I think it’d be better if he moved on.”

Gunners exit makes sense

In our opinion, it would make sense for Nketiah to leave Arsenal for good in the summer transfer window.

Yes, the striker is getting a run of games at the moment, but would the English youngster start week in and week out next season if Arsenal bring in one or two new players upfront in the summer of 2022?

Nketiah is very young and still developing as a footballer, and it is really hard to see Arteta make him the number one striker next season, especially if Arsenal finish in the Premier League top four.
