Newcastle United are ready to bid for Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe, but there are stumbling blocks.

That is according to TEAMtalk, who has claimed interest from Newcastle among other clubs in Mbappe and the Magpies’ plan regarding the PSG forward.

So, what is being reported about Newcastle United and Paris Saint-Germain striker Kylian Mbappe?

Let’s take a look.

What’s the story?

Well, according to TEAMtalk, Newcastle United are keen on bringing Kylian Mbappe to St. James’ Park at the end of the season.

Mbappe is out of contract at PSG in the summer of 2024.

Newcastle, who beat PSG at home in the UEFA Champions League this season, want to secure the services of the 24-year-old on a free transfer.

TEAMtalk has claimed that Newcastle are “ready to make a move to tempt the 24-year-old” to a transfer, but the Magpies have “Financial Fair Play restrictions”.

The report has noted that Real Madrid, Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea are also keen on Mbappe, who according to Norway international striker Erling Haaland, is “so fast, so strong” and is “an incredible player”.

My View: Newcastle United unlikely to be able to sign Kylian Mbappe

I do not think that Newcastle United would be able to sign Kylian Mbappe in the summer of 2024.

As big a club as Newcastle are, I do not think that Mbappe would be tempted to move to St. James’ Park when he has the option to join Real Madrid, Chelsea, Liverpool or Manchester City.

At Paris Saint-Germain, Mbappe is used to winning titles and challenging for major trophies.

Newcastle are unlikely to win the Premier League title anytime soon and may not even get into the UEFA Champions League next season.

Moreover, Newcastle have FFP issues.

However, I have to admire the Newcastle owners for having the ambition to try to sign a player like Mbappe.
