Newcastle United are signing Alexander Isak and they even have hope that he could face Wolverhampton Wanderers this weekend.

The Magpies have wanted to add another striker all summer and missed out on Hugo Ekitike, who joined Paris Saint-Germain.

It looked like Watford attacker Joao Pedro would be arriving, but Newcastle have pivoted to strike a very quick deal for Isak.

This came out of nowhere, but Newcastle are now on the verge of securing a big deal for the Swedish international.

Newcastle United are signing Alexander Isak

News broke in San Sebastian on Wednesday, suggesting that Isak was on the verge of a £59million move to Newcastle.

Sky Sports reporter Keith Downie has since posted a photo of Isak arriving for his medical with Newcastle, and a deal is now imminent.

This has moved so quickly that The Athletic now claim that Newcastle are hopeful that Isak will play against Wolverhampton Wanderers this weekend.

Newcastle need to have the deal signed, sealed and delivered by midday on Friday in order for Isak to be eligible to face Wolves.

We would imagine that Newcastle will easily make that deadline given that Isak is already on Tyneside.

Callum Wilson is out injured for around three to four weeks, meaning Chris Wood is likely to lead the line at Molineux on Sunday.

That would still allow for Isak to be on the bench and potentially make a cameo appearance for Eddie Howe’s Magpies.

That’s certainly an exciting talent to be able to unleash on Wolves, with Isak considered to be one of the top young strikers in Europe.

Newcastle have been working wonders in the transfer market; Nick Pope, Kieran Trippier, Dan Burn, Sven Botman, Matt Targett and Bruno Guimaraes have all impressed in black and white stripes.

Given Isak’s reputation, talent and potential, you can certainly imagine him being the latest success story for Newcastle, and his Magpies story could begin in Wolverhampton this weekend.
