Newcastle United are signing Alexander Isak and the Real Sociedad striker has now arrived on Tyneside to complete his big-money move.

The Magpies have been chasing a striker all summer and it looked like a deal was on the cards earlier this week.

A move was in the pipeline for Watford attacker Joao Pedro but that move could now be hanging in the balance after Newcastle made another swoop.

Newcastle United are signing Alexander Isak

Newcastle’s top target now appears to be Alexander Isak, with the Real Sociedad striker on the verge of joining the Magpies.

Diario Vasco – a local newspaper in San Sebastian – reported on Wednesday that Isak is heading to Newcastle for around €70million (£59million).

The Guardian add that Isak will now sign a huge £120,000-a-week contract with Newcastle, dropping his demands from the alleged £200,000-a-week he wanted earlier this summer.

Fabrizio Romano now offers an update, taking to Twitter in the early hours of this morning to state that Isak is already in the North East.

Isak has travelled over from Spain to complete the final details of his move, including a medical, which should take place today or tomorrow.

This represents a major signing for Newcastle with Isak considered to be one of the top young strikers in Europe.

The Swede only managed six league goals in 32 games last season but he has shown his quality on numerous occasions.

Tall, strong, quick and a very skilful dribbler, Isak can become a truly complete striker with the right development in the years to come.

Newcastle wanted a young striker to develop alongside Callum Wilson and Chris Wood, but few could have expected them to actually land Isak.

This is a major signal of intent from Newcastle and with the deal expected to be done very soon, Newcastle could have their striker for years to come.
