Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United will soon make a move for Leicester City attacking midfielder James Maddison, a player linked with Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool, according to The Northern Echo.
Newcastle to move for Liverpool-linked James Maddison
The report has claimed that Newcastle will make a formal inquiry for Leicester and England international attacking midfielder Maddison.
The Magpies want to bring the playmaker to St. James’ Park in the January transfer window.
Newcastle reportedly wanted to sign the 26-year-old in the summer of 2022 and had bids turned down, but they remain keen on Maddison and want to secure his services in the middle of the season.
This report will be of interest to Liverpool, who have also been linked with Maddison, described as “amazing” by Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount on talkSPORT in November 2022.
Earlier this month, GiveMeSport suggested interest from Liverpool and Manchester United in the Englishman.
The report claimed that Maddison is aware of interest in him from the Reds, the Red Devils and the Magpies.

Could a January transfer happen?
In our opinion, Leicester City are not going to sell James Maddison to Liverpool or Newcastle United in the January transfer window.
Maddison, who is injured at the moment, is one of the best players at Leicester, and manager Brendan Rodgers will surely not want to part ways with him in the middle of a season in which they are not doing well.
