Spanish outlet AS have reported Newcastle United sent scouts to watch Gabri Veiga and remain keen on his signature.
The 20-year-old is a central midfielder who currently plays his football for 14th place Celta Vigo in La Liga. Despite being halfway into the campaign, it seems as if Eddie Howe’s side are already planning for next season, considering recent links to the likes of Charles De Ketelaere, Mason Mount, Lucas Chevalier and Paulo Dybala amongst many.
But it seems like the interest from Newcastle in Gabri Veiga is well and truly concrete, as they sent scouts to watch the raw prospect in action.
Newcastle sent scouts to watch Gabri Veiga
While the Magpies are perhaps one of, if not the biggest underachievers in English football this season, the club seem to have an eye on bigger and better things already, despite European football already looking like a guarantee.
One of them seemingly involves making Gabri Veiga a Newcastle player, as a report by AS states that the club is ‘interested’ in the youngster and sent scouts earlier this month to watch him in the flesh.

Further details state that the club’s scouts were present to watch the ‘revelation’, who has 6 goals and 2 assists in 14 league starts in action against Atletico Madrid on 12th February.
It has also been claimed that if Newcastle want to sign Gabri Veiga, who is also catching the eye amongst other English and Spanish sides, they will have to fork out a £26.5 million fee for the player who they sent scouts to assess.
In addition, it is believed that Celta Vigo will find it next to impossible to keep the Spaniard at the club, despite his contract only expiring in 2026. Now, only time will tell if the Premier League giants take a punt on the talent.
