As per a report by Italian outlet, Calciomercato, Newcastle United and Manchester United have their sights on a summer move for Roma superstar, Paulo Dybala.

The ‘world-class’ £138,000-a-week attacker, who was once compared to Diego Maradona by Michel Platini via Corriere della Sarra has been brilliant for Jose Mourinho’s men, with 8 goals and 6 assists in Serie A this season. Whilst many had written off the ‘quality’ World Cup winner, he is enjoying the kind of redemption story that one comes across in sports films.

Now, it seems Newcastle are enticed by the prospect of bringing Paulo Dybala from Roma to St. James’ Park in the summer of 2023, despite interest from Manchester United.

Details about Newcastle interest in Roma forward Dybala

Eddie Howe’s side currently sit 4th in the Premier League and only naivety would lead someone to back them not to have any chance of qualifying for the Champions League next season.

It seems Newcastle will not rest on their laurels to become the next big European powerhouse in any case, despite Manchester United showing interest as they are targeting a move for Paulo Dybala from Roma in the summer, according to Calciomercato.

The report states that there is a £17.7 million release clause in the 29-year-old’s contract, which will be reduced to just £10.6 million if he joins a foreign club, and be completely wiped out if he stays in the summer.

However, it seems like the Newcastle and Manchester United-linked Paulo Dybala remains keen on staying put at Roma, as he was quoted saying in the report, “The clause is a matter between my attorneys and the club. But I don’t know what will happen at the end of the year. And if I don’t know what’s going to happen with me, let alone the coach [Jose Mourinho], you have to ask him.

“I’d like to be coached by him, because he’s one of the best and I’d like to win with him but for now, I’m only thinking about the match against Salzburg. I hope Roma play in the Champions League next year.”

Well, if Newcastle can beat Manchester United to sign Paulo Dybala from Roma, that would be a coup for the ages for them.
