Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal and Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur wanted to sign Paulo Dybala in the summer transfer window, and the Argentina international is showing at AS Roma now just why.

Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur linked with Paulo Dybala

Tuttomercatoweb reported on June 21 that Tottenham were monitoring the situation of Dybala, who can operate as a forward or as an attacking midfielder.

FCInterNews claimed in July that Arsenal and Manchester United had been in touch with the representatives of Dybala, who was a free agent at the time following his departure from Juventus at the end of last season.

However, the 28-year-old – described as “a world-class player” by Brazil and Real Madrid legend Roberto Carlos on DAZN in April 2022 – decided to snub Tottenham and Arsenal and moved to AS Roma on a free transfer instead to work with former Spurs, Chelsea and Manchester United head coach Jose Mourinho.

In form

Dybala has been in superb form for Roma this season and simply cannot stop scoring at the moment.

The forward has scored three goals and given two assists in six Serie A matches so far this campaign.

And on Thursday, Dybala opened his account in the UEFA Europa League for Roma.

The Argentine scored in the 47th minute, as Mourinho’s team beat HJK Helsinki 3-0 at the Stadio Olimpico.
