Everton are now resigned to losing Anthony Gordon as Newcastle United grow in the hope of securing a transfer. The winger has made clear his desire to join the Magpies in January.
That is according to Chronicle Live, which reports Gordon has told his representatives that he is open to a transfer. He has also expressed an appreciation for Toon coach Eddie Howe and his work at St James’ Park. Newcastle sit third in the Premier League after 20 matches.
Magpies sporting director Dan Ashworth further considers Gordon to be amongst the best young Premier League stars around. The Tyneside chief and Newcastle’s transfer team also spent Wednesday getting Howe up to speed with the status of Gordon’s potential transfer.

Now, Everton are resigned to seeing Gordon leave Goodison Park for Newcastle in the final days of the transfer window. The 21-year-old and his representatives are likely to put extra pressure on the Merseyside club to force a deal through before Tuesday’s deadline strikes.
The way Gordon’s situation has played out this month has annoyed the Toffees as they bid to avoid relegation. He missed training at Finch Farm on Tuesday and Wednesday. Everton were also desperate for him to stay with the club sat 19th in the standings with 15 points.

Newcastle hope to drive down Everton’s asking price for Gordon’s transfer
Newcastle continue to believe a £40m fee will be enough to secure Gordon’s transfer from Everton. But the Toffees are yet to accept the figure or how a deal would be structured for their academy product. The coming days are crucial to see if Everton’s stance will weaken.
Prior reports by The Northern Echo have suggested Newcastle will offer an initial £25m for Gordon’s transfer with Everton receiving a further £15m in add-ons. The £13k-a-week gem – who Matthew Upson calls ‘fearless’ – has struggled to produce consistent form this season.
Gordon has only offered three goals without any assists through his 18 appearances across all competitions so far this term. Each of his goals came in his 16 Premier League outings, starting in 12. But after scoring twice in August, Gordon’s impact began to wane massively.
