Italian outlet CMW claim Inter Milan star Joaquin Correa has packed his suitcase and is ready to leave Inter Milan – amid reports Newcastle are keen on signing the Argentina international. A fee of £26million is said to be enough.

Correa, 28, joined Inter Milan in the summer of 2021. It comes after a wonderful stint at Lazio – where he played under Simone Inzaghi. Inzaghi replaced Antonio Conte at Inter, and Correa followed him to the Nerrazzuri.

But since then, his game time has been irregular. That lack of momentum has contributed to his numbers. In his first season, he scored just six goals in 36 games – starting only 14 of those matches. This season, he has three goals.

CMW claim in a recent article that Newcastle want to sign Correa. Inter Milan are willing to sell Correa, if a fee between £21.7million and £26million is put on the table. Now, a new report says he has his “suitcases ready”.

Correa has packed suitcase amid Newcastle reports

Correa would be a top signing for Newcastle. That is, despite the need for another attacking outlet lessening over the past few weeks. The form of Miguel Almiron has removed the need for a new right-sided winger on Tyneside.

Callum Wilson has come in and starred up top, with Alexander Isak injured. Allan Saint-Maximin is one of the club’s best players, on the left flank. But there is a vacancy when it comes to including a no.10 at Newcastle.

Joe Willock is good, but a player that the Toon can improve on. James Maddison has been strongly linked. But perhaps bringing in a player like Correa, who can play out wide, up top or as a 10, makes more sense for the Toon.

It means that if he is not playing, which could be likely, he can provide Eddie Howe with a player on the bench that offers plenty of options. He can get his game time without nailing down one specific position. £26million is decent.
