Newcastle United now lead Tottenham Hotspur in the race to bring Marcus Thuram to the Premier League. But Inter Milan will push for his transfer from Borussia Monchengladbach.
That is according to Calciomercato, which reports Newcastle lead the Premier League clubs interested in Thuram as a free agent. The forward is out of contract at Borussia-Park at the end of this season. He also has no interest in extending his spell with the Bundesliga outfit.
Thuram has been with Die Fohlen since 2019 and has penned 41 goals plus 26 assists over 123 appearances since. The 25-year-old’s haul also includes 13 goals and four assists in 21 games this season. He has hit home 10 times over 19 German top-flight outings so far, too.

Now, Newcastle are leading rival interest at Tottenham and Manchester United in the free transfer of Borussia Monchengladbach star Thuram. But Bayern Munich are also exploring keeping the France striker in Germany. While Paris Saint-Germain are also admirers of his.
Inter Milan are ready to make a big commitment to see Thuram go to Serie A this summer, as well. The Nerazzurri are willing to guarantee the nine-cap international a leading role at San Siro. They would also use the growth decree to pay him €5m-a-season (£86k-a/w) net.

Newcastle lead Tottenham for a transfer of Borussia Monchengladbach’s Thuram
Prior reports by Calciomercato have also noted Inter Milan’s proposal to Thuram could hit €10m-a-year (£171k-a/w) gross after bonuses. The San Siro outfit also have an agreement in principle with the forward over his transfer. But they do not have a deal done on paper.
Inter Milan are now pushing to finalise terms to edge out interest from AC Milan, Juventus and Barcelona. While Calciomercato now notes Newcastle lead the Premier League pack in contention for Borussia Monchengladbach ace Thuram’s free transfer ahead of Tottenham.
The rich contracts Premier League teams can offer could also see Thuram favour a transfer to Newcastle or Tottenham over Inter Milan. But the Nerazzurri will not give up hope of a free deal for a striker called ‘world-class’ by Wolfsburg’s sporting director, Marcel Schafer.
