New reports suggest the legal team allegedly working on the sale have had their Christmas leave cancelled, but some Magpies fans aren’t really buying it.

Speculation regarding a takeover at Newcastle United is gathering pace ahead of the festive period.
A prior report by The Express suggested that a consortium fronted by former Chelsea and Manchester United chief executive Peter Kenyon is close to agreeing a price with Mike Ashley for the Premier League club.
Now, the Daily Star has just published an exclusive report of its own which suggested that the legal team at law firm Walker Morris, who are purportedly working on the sale with Kenyon, have been told that all their Christmas leave has been cancelled.
The report goes on to explain that both parties have sorted out a deal in principle and are now working on the fine print in readiness for a takeover within the next few weeks, hence the alleged decision to keep the Walker Morris legal team working over the festive period.
Around 12 months ago, Sports Direct owner Ashley was reportedly in talks with businesswoman Amanda Staveley over a potential £300m deal – according to BBC Sport – but nothing materialised.

Given the semblance of history repeating itself around the Christmas period, some Toon Army faithful aren’t entirely convinced that things will pan out differently this time and some took to Twitter to voice their concerns:
