Report: Mike Ashley confident of selling Newcastle United

Newcastle United are struggling in the Premier League at the moment.

According to The Express, Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley is confident that he will be able to sell the club for £300 million in the New Year.

It has been reported that a consortium fronted by former Chelsea and Manchester United chief executive Peter Kenyon is close to agreeing a price with Ashley for Newcastle.

Good news for Newcastle United fans

That Newcastle fans want to see the back of Ashley has been clear for a while, and the latest report in The Express is certainly going to delight them.

If Ashley leaves, then the incoming new buyers are likely to invest money in the club in the January transfer window and sign a few good players for Newcastle manager Rafael Benitez.

The Magpies need to reinforce their squad in January in order to retain their Premier League status for the 2018-19 campaign.

Newcastle are 15th in the Premier League table at the moment with 13 points from 16 matches, just three points above the relegation zone.

Benitez’s side will return to action on Saturday afternoon when they take on Huddersfield Town away from home in the Premier League.
