Despite Newcastle United hitting a rich vein of form in recent weeks, Salomon Rondon has largely flattered to deceive so far in the famous black-and-white stripes.

The Venezuelan scored 10 goals in 40 appearances last term for West Bromwich Albion and many Magpies fans had high expectations of the forward after joining the club on loan in the summer.

However, except for a brace against Bournemouth earlier this month, Rondon has often not been at his best and was criticised by some fans for his display against Burnley last time out.

Despite his current struggles on the pitch, Rondon has been praised for his activities off it as he got involved in a community project in the city alongside the Newcastle United Foundation.

This week, the 29-year-old took the time to visit a local primary school and joined in with the charity’s Tesco Bank Junior Players dodgeball session.

Rondon posted photos and footage of his time at the school on his Twitter page, which were shared by the club and the foundation:

With Newcastle being a tight-knit community club in a one-team city, many fans loved to see Rondon getting involved in local community work and some took to Twitter to praise the player:
