Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal and Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United can sign Hugo Ekitike for €15 million (£12.83 million) from Reims in the summer transfer window, according to ESPN.

The report published this morning has claimed that Manchester United have already made an enquiry over signing French striker Ekitike.

Newcastle and Arsenal are keen on the 19-year-old as well, according to the report, which has added that the Gunners and the Magpies would be able to sign the teenager for €15 million (£12.83 million).

Arsenal or Newcastle United for Hugo Ekitike?

In our opinion, Arsenal would be more appealing to Ekitike than Newcastle at the moment.

The Gunners are a big club and a global brand, and there is a very good chance that the North London club will return to the Champions League next season.

Moreover, Arsenal will need to sign at least two new strikers in the summer transfer window.

Yes, of course, Newcastle are a big club and have wealthy owners in PIF, but the Magpies are unlikely to challenge for top honours in the next one or two years.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is working wonders with young players, and that could appeal to Ekitike, who, according to The Daily Mail in January 2022, has been compared to fellow French striker and Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe.

Ekitike has made 14 starts and seven substitute appearances in Ligue 1 for Reims this season, scoring nine goals and providing two assists in the process.
