Zohran Mamdani had one of the final major moments of the Knicks’ title parade when the celebration reached City Hall. The New York City mayor spoke directly to a fanbase that had waited 53 years for a third NBA trophy.

His speech did not focus only on the champions in front of him. Mamdani also mentioned former Knicks who shone during the drought, including Renaldo Balkman, J.R. Smith, Iman Shumpert, Jared Jeffries and others.

That choice appeared to land with supporters. By looking beyond the current roster, Mamdani gave long-time Knicks fans a speech that felt built for them.

Fans quickly reacted to the mayor’s parade speech on X.

One wrote: “Mamdani, this is special,” while another posted: “Mamdani with a hell of a speech.”

A third Knicks fan stated: “I texted my Knicks’ friends the same thing: might be the best speech I’ve ever seen at a sports parade. Mamdani crushed it and I love the mention of all former Knicks players I watched for 47 years. Meanwhile, owner Dolan sat there with his arms folded.”

A fourth added: “He absolutely CRUSHED it. All the references to Knicks of old… late 90s, early 00s.. names only the diehards knew and watched. Incredible job by Mayor Mamdani. Real NY s—.”

Zohran Mamdani also went viral dancing with Karl-Anthony Towns

The speech was not Mamdani’s only parade moment.

Earlier, he was spotted on the Knicks’ float dancing “Lean Back” alongside Karl-Anthony Towns.

The moment matched the mood of the day. Mamdani was not just hosting the ceremony, he was inside the celebration.
