Jose Enrique has claimed on his Instagram story that he thinks Arsenal will be the ‘new destination’ for Tottenham transfer target, Gabriel Jesus.

The former left-back was reacting to claims from Fabrizio Romano, who stated that Jesus will leave Manchester City, but he will ‘stay in the Premier League’.

Both Arsenal and Spurs have been touted as teams who could provide the 25-year-old with a new chapter in his career, after winning four Premier League titles under Pep Guardiola.

Following the arrival of Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez for next season, it will probably reduce, or at least put at serious risk, Jesus’s game time at the Etihad.

With 12 months remaining on his current Manchester City contract, it seems as though, rather than signing on the dotted line, he is going to look elsewhere for a transfer.

Nonetheless, this is what Enrique posted about Jesus possibly leaving Manchester City, but staying in the Premier League.

“Arsenal, it looks like (it will be) the new destination for Gabriel Jesus,” said Enrique.

JESUS NEEDED MORE AT ARSENAL THAN TOTTENHAM

With Alexandre Lacazette heading to Lyon, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang already out of the exit door and Eddie Nketiah leading the line at Arsenal.

It’s obvious that Mikel Arteta needs another number nine, more oomph, bite and goals in the forward areas.

Jesus would, therefore, be more needed at the Emirates rather than at Hotspur Way because Antonio Conte already has Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son to pick from.

Whilst Spurs still need to bulk up their forward line, their neighbours are looking for proven starters to come in and hit the ground running next season, so getting deals such as Jesus over the line is a must.
