Well, Alexandre Lacazette hasn’t wasted any time finding a new club upon his release by Arsenal.

Arsenal confirmed last week that the France international had left the Emirates Stadium.

The 30-year-old hitman was out of contract in North London this summer and after a difficult season on the goalscoring front, the Gunners elected against extending his deal.

Lacazette, who scored two Premier League goals from open play this past season, has already found a new club, though.

Well, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Italian journalist revealed on Wednesday that he was undergoing a medical with former club Lyon.

And Romano tweeted in the early hours of Thursday morning that Lacazette – who cost Arsenal nearly £50 million in 2017 – has already joined the Ligue 1 outfit, who finished eighth in the standings last season.

It’ll be fascinating to see how he fares on his return to France.

Everybody knows the Premier League is a much tougher division but if he finds his goalscoring form again, which is probable, then it makes you wonder if Mikel Arteta’s system at Arsenal was incompatible for the striker.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang also struggled to score regularly under the Spanish manager, but then scored 13 goals in his first five months as a Barcelona player.

If Lacazette enjoys similar success away from the Gunners then critics will say it’s because French football is easier but maybe, just maybe, he’ll be playing for a manager who knows how to get the player firing again.
