Kris Boyd says Tottenham Hotspur are ‘never’ going to sell Harry Kane now, after suggestions by Paul Merson that Manchester United should try to sign the England captain.

The 29-year-old has around 18 months left on his current contract, and whilst he concentrates on matters on the field of play, the Spurs faithful are hoping that he extends his stay at the club.

Two men have been the subject of contract talk in recent times – Kane and Antonio Conte – but if you asked those in the stands, then it’s pretty clear that they would rather their star striker stay on board than their trophy-laden winning coach.

Of course, the ultimate dream would be for both to stay and for Daniel Levy to show the ambition the Italian wants which takes the club to the next level.

Merson has previously claimed that Manchester United should push for Kane, and when he reiterated those claims on Soccer Saturday on Sky Sports News (14/01/23 at 12:10 pm), it resulted in former Scotland striker, Kris Boyd, issuing a simple yet blunt response.

“Spurs are never going to sell him, at this moment in time,” said Boyd.

BIG SUMMER FOR KANE

Not so long ago, Spurs could have probably sold Kane for close to £150 million when Manchester City came knocking before they purchased Erling Haaland.

Yet, by this time next year, Kane will be free to speak to other clubs because he will have six months left on his deal, that’s if he doesn’t sign.

And that’s where questions have to be asked, will he sign a new contract in 2023?

Something has to give this summer. Either he pens down a new deal, or the London club, to the anger of their supporters, sell Kane and they secure some much-needed money for the player.
