Thierry Henry has claimed that it seems as though Liverpool transfer target Kylian Mbappe has ‘never heard of no’ in his life amid rumours he wants to leave PSG in the January window, as he told CBS Sports on Paramount+ (11/10/22 at 7:15 pm).

Even if you have a World Cup to your name by 24, and numerous league titles, even if it’s only in France, your ego can sometimes be hitting a certain point where you need to be brought down a few levels.

That seems to be the case with Mbappe, who according to reports breaking on Tuesday, wants to leave PSG because they haven’t met his promises from the summer when he signed a new big-money contract and he feels ‘betrayed’, as reported by Julien Laurens.

Given the beef between PSG and Real Madrid, it seems as though the current Ligue 1 champions won’t be selling to the kings of Spain, if they are to part ways with their sought-after asset.

Well, where could he head if it’s not Real Madrid? Liverpool have been mentioned as a possible destination for Mbappe by Real Madrid-backed paper, Marca.

That would be something if one of the world’s most recognisable footballers ended up in Liverpool colours during the winter, but a certain France legend, who has been there and done it, had some stern words for his fellow countryman.

“Do you feel he is a bit exposed in terms of what he doesn’t like to do in the game?” asked Henry. “When you are versatile, then, unfortunately, you are the only one to play as a nine to free others.

“But is it not the true sense of a great player to accommodate what the boss wants to make others shine?

“Nobody likes to be exposed to what you are not good at. He doesn’t like it. But if there is something that’s bigger than anything else, then it’s the club. But did they make him feel that the club is the most important thing? Or did they feel that he is more important than the club?

“I will use my own story – I didn’t like to play high and wide at Barcelona. I hated it. But I had to do it for the team – I didn’t hear anyone saying ‘oh, what a nice gesture to go and play on the left for others who have less goals than me and less caps’. But, at one point, I remembered that there is only one rule. The boss is asking you to do something, you do it for the good of your team. And your team is winning, if your team isn’t winning, then I would have understood that argument.

“I actually don’t know what they promised him (when he signed a contract). From the outside, it looks like he has never heard of ‘no’ in his life.”

MBAPPE’S SITUATION RIDICULOUS

If Mbappe were to be a free agent tomorrow, then he would walk into any team in world football and dethrone many top stars from the XI.

But, modern football is heading down a very dangerous road of spoon-feeding footballers so much that they seemingly think who they are more important than the game itself.

From the stupid amount of money that is handed to them, to the ridiculous promises that are made, it wouldn’t be a surprise if, down the line, there are more situations such as the one Mbappe finds himself in now.

Sometimes, the player himself isn’t to blame, but those who feed him such rubbish and make such unsustainable and possibly disrupting promises.
