Erling Haaland. Jude Bellingham. Kylian Mbappe. All three of the aforementioned stars are set to dominate Europe for years, with Liverpool keen to sign the second name.
According to The Athletic, Jürgen Klopp is desperate to sign Bellingham, who is valued at £130m by Borussia Dortmund, while Ben Jacobs adds that the Reds are working on a marquee midfield addition for 2023.
However, a fresh rumour coming from France could force the Reds to give up on the England international for the greater good.
PSG willing to sell Mbappe to Liverpool
Remarkably, a number of French news outlets, as well as in Spain, are claiming that Mbappe now wants to leave PSG in January after his relationship with the Parisians became fractured.
According to Marca in Spain, the France international wants to join Real Madrid, but PSG are only wiling to sell their No.7 to Liverpool.
Now, if that is true, the Reds need to forget about whatever money they had saved up for Bellingham, and use it to bring Mbappe to Anfield.
Signing the 23-year-old would surely save Liverpool’s underwhelming campaign, given the fact he has already scored 11 goals in just 12 appearances.
Mbappe is a generational talent who looks set to compete with Haaland throughout the next decade, just like Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi did for so long.
Liverpool may never get a chance to sign a player like him again, so if Marca are to be trusted, the Reds must get in touch with PSG now to see what financial figures are required.
Mbappe may be open to Liverpool move
As aforesaid, Mbappe wants to join Real Madrid, but there has been plenty said in the past which suggests he would be open to joining Liverpool.
According to Duncan Castles, the Frenchman told close friends he would like to join Liverpool roughly a year ago, while Klopp himself has also told the Mirror that he would love to sign the Paris-born sensation.
One Spanish source even claimed that Mbappe told Real Madrid to hire Klopp if they wanted him to join, such is his admiration for the German.
A lot needs to happen for this deal to materialise – including Liverpool sacrificing Bellingham – but nobody can tell the Anfield faithful that it isn’t possible.
