John Hartson has praised Tottenham duo, Ben Davies and Joe Rodon, for the part they played in Wales qualifying for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, as he told talkSPORT.

The former striker stated that Davies ‘never has a bad game’, whilst Rodon, who has hardly kicked a ball for Spurs, just heads ‘everything’ that comes his way.

Whilst Davies is a regular at Tottenham and under Antonio Conte, the same can’t be said for Rodon, who hasn’t started a league game under the Italian.

Therefore, it isn’t a surprise that the Champions League side are willing to sell the centre-back this summer.

Well, Rodon can’t afford to be sitting on the sidelines heading into Qatar, as Hartson praised the 24-year-old and his senior teammate, Davies.

“He’s (Davies) a senior player now in the Welsh team,” said Hartson. “He has many caps behind him.

“He never has a bad game. He puts his foot through it when he has to defend. He is very physical. Great on the back stick. Excellent at being brave. Always there at the right place and defends really well.

“Conte likes him at Spurs, so he played a lot of games for Spurs as well.

“Joe Rodon, hardly kicked a ball all season. Went to Spurs for £16 million, from Swansea. Heading everything that came into the box.

“I think he had a bang on his nose, but he got straight back up.”

RODON HAS TO LEAVE SPURS

For Davies, things haven’t been better for the player, both on the domestic and the international stage.

But, it’s the complete opposite for his fellow countryman, who needs to leave the club this summer.

Whether it’s a loan deal or a permanent move, Rodon needs those regular minutes heading into Qatar.

The question remains, would a Premier League team push for the player? At the end of the day, it hasn’t worked out for him following his step up from Swansea.
