Nelly Korda was in the mix heading into the final round of the CME Group Tour Championship, but it was Jeeno Thitikul who came away with the win.

Thitikul capped off an impressive season by breaking Annika Sorenstam’s LPGA scoring record and sealing victory at the CME Group Tour Championship.

She played alongside Korda in the final round and finished on 26-under, a strong performance that saw her claim first place.

Pajaree Anannarukarn finished four shots behind Thitikul, while Korda ended up six strokes back in third place at Tiburon Golf Club.

Following a winless season on the LPGA Tour, former world No. 1 Korda was asked to sum up her year in a single word.

She replied: “A grind. Yeah, just there was… I feel like there was a lot of ups and downs and it made me grow a lot mentally and I would say I’m just also very grateful for it because, you know, success is never linear.”

Asked about the highlights and challenges of her season, Korda said: “Highs was probably the US Women’s Open. I mean, the adrenaline rush, there is nothing like it.

“The highs are probably like seeing like the great flashes in my game where I’m very excited about the work that I put in.

“Then some of the lows are like every girl can say that out here, every pro can say that, you put so much time and effort into your craft and you just don’t play well. You just do it over and over and over again. Sometimes you just go a little crazy.”

Despite not securing any wins in 2025, Korda still has plenty to build on as she heads into next season.

This year she made every cut – 19 out of 19 – posted nine top-10 finishes, fired a low round of 63, and finished fifth in Race to CME Globe points standings.

A number of world-class shots were also struck, including a stunning hole-out on the 11th hole this week in Florida.

Regarding that shot, she explained: “Yeah, hit my driver a little out right. Honestly wasn’t a bad place to miss it out there.

“I had 136 yards which was a perfect 9-iron and I hit it… like I hit it really pure, which is also really nice when you hole-out, when it all matches up.

“And I’ve never heard Jason [McDede] yell that loud. Even the cameraman, he was like, dude, I got scared.

“It was nice to see that go in. In the past year I’ve been lipping out, so for it to be the last round of the year, obviously last round of the season, it felt good to see that go in.”

Having already claimed seven victories in 2024, the two-time major winner Korda attracted significant attention from the outset.

The American may have felt pressure to perform, meaning the absence of victories this season could, in fact, be a positive development heading into 2026.
